Safari Overview
Experience one of Africa’s most unforgettable wildlife adventures by trekking endangered mountain gorillas in both Rwanda and Uganda. This safari combines the breathtaking scenery of Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park with the dense tropical rainforest of Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, allowing you to compare two unique gorilla trekking experiences while enjoying spectacular landscapes, local culture, and comfortable accommodations.

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by your professional safari guide who will brief you about the journey ahead.
Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a short Kigali city tour, including visits to local craft markets and the Kigali Genocide Memorial (optional).
After lunch, drive north through Rwanda’s beautiful rolling hills to Volcanoes National Park.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Wake up early for breakfast before transferring to the park headquarters for registration and a briefing by Rwanda Development Board rangers.
After being allocated a gorilla family, begin your trek through bamboo forests and volcanic slopes in search of the endangered mountain gorillas.
Once located, spend one unforgettable hour observing these magnificent primates as they feed, play, groom each other, and interact within their family groups.
After the trek, return to your lodge for relaxation.
Optional cultural visit to the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village in the afternoon.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Uganda)
After breakfast, depart Rwanda via the Cyanika Border and continue into Uganda’s famous Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
The journey offers spectacular views of terraced hillsides, local villages, tea plantations, and the Virunga Mountains.
Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch or late afternoon relaxation.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking and Habituation in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Following an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for registration and a detailed briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers.
Bwindi is home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas and offers one of the most authentic trekking experiences in Africa.
Your trek may take between 2 and 7 hours depending on the gorilla family’s location.
Once found, enjoy Habituating the gorillas before returning to the lodge.
Spend the evening relaxing and sharing memories of your incredible encounter.

Day 5: Leisure Day in Bwindi
Enjoy a relaxed morning after two exciting trekking adventures.
Optional activities include:
* Guided community walk
* Batwa cultural experience
* Bird watching

* Photography around the surrounding hills
Spend the remainder of the day enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the lodge.

Day 6: Return to Kigali – Departure
After breakfast, depart Bwindi and drive back to Kigali via the Katuna or Cyanika border.
Arrive in Kigali in time for lunch (optional) before being transferred to Kigali International Airport for your onward flight.
